STUDIOCRAFT is a design studio destination where designers, adventurous individuals and collectors will find unique and memorable furniture and lighting pieces.

Our focus is to design and craft something meaningful, unexpected and captivating that enriches both space and mind.

The pieces we create draw inspiration from the world of fine arts, design and popular culture, spanning all periods and cultures, past and present.

However soulful, irreverent or thought-provoking a piece of furniture we create may be, we take care to ensure our designs are suited to everyday use.

We also offer a bespoke service. Should you desire it, we can design and manufacture a beautifully crafted product perfectly tailored to your project brief, whether for residential, restaurants, lodges or hotels.

Adapting designs to suit your specifications: many of our designs are conceived to accommodate for customization. Should you desire, colors, finishes and details can be changed.

"DOODLE-JAZZ PIECES" COCKTAIL / COFFEE TABLES

THE DOODLE-JAZZ PIECES: COFFEE TABLE NO 4

Here, the spontaneity of child-like doodling is explored. The frame was drawn freehand as a doodle and the line quality is maintained in the steel framework. This retains a freshness and immediacy one would find in a sketch. Each DOODLE PIECE has a different form as the drawing is done as an improvisation, allowing the rhythm of the hand and body to inform and dictate the flow of the doodle line and the subsequent frame pattern that emerges from that. The mosaic designs are approached similarly, randomly playing with patterns in a jazz-like skid. I wanted to create a piece of furniture that is natural and vibrant in feel. The sinuous flow and rhythm of the frame line contribute to a refined finish in tone. The doodle-jazz coffee tables can also be manufactured with a 20mm solid marble slab finish. This results in an altogether more chic and luxe furniture piece.

ADAPTING A DESIGN TO SUIT YOUR SPECIFICATIONS OR TASTE

THE DOODLE SERIES COFFEE TABLES

The Doodle Series Coffee Tables were designed with adaptation in mind, making them perfect for customization. In this example, instead of mosaics, a Marron Emperador marble is chosen as inlay. The result is an altogether more classic and luxurious furniture piece.

In this version, a 20mm solid Zimbabwe Pure Black granite is cut to fit the frame. The result is an altogether more seriously toned and elegant finish, reminiscent of Art Deco lux but presented within a new form context.

In this version, a 20mm solid pink engineered quartz stone is chosen resulting in a design that is light in feel and decidedly pop chic and irreverent, with undertones of Barbie and the Monte Carlo jet set. These examples are given as demonstration of how our designs may be adapted to cater for different tastes.

ABSTRACT SCULPTURE TABLE LAMP NO.4

Torch cut matt black powder coated mild steel abstract sculpture table lamp. The design intent here was to combine sculpture and lighting. the steel was rough cut and welded to contrast the crispness of the steel plate surfaces. paying homage to brutalist art, but with a lightness and a touch of elegance.
